Yunlin county is located at the northernmost tip of the Jianan Plain and its area is about 1,291 square kilometers which areis less than 5% of the Taiwan's landcover. However, it breeds a great variety of crops and economic animals with abundant yields, from short-term leafy vegetables to perennial fruit trees, from breeding livestock to processing raw materials. Under the farmers' hard working, Yunlin county feeds 23.78 million of Taiwan peoples' meal required. Due to the long-term severe shortage of animal and plant physician resources in remote rural areas, as farmers encounter livestock epidemics and crop diseases or insect pests, most of them diagnose, select drugs by their own experiences or word of mouth, resulting in animal drug or pesticide abuse and residue problems emerging in an endless stream. Nowadays, people put great emphasis on food safety and environmental friendliness issues, therefore, legislation and promotion of animal and plant physician systems are extremely important. Through the integration of interdisciplinary resources, the College of Bioresources and Agriculture, National Taiwan University established the Agriculture Incubation and Extension Center (Hohe Hall) at the Yunlin Branch of National Taiwan University, with the "Animal Disease Diagnostic Center" and the "NTU Plant Teaching Hospital", taking care of the animal breeding and plant growth process and prevent diseases, and build a complete animal and plant medical system. From the basic courses in the school classrooms to the practical exercise in the outdoor field, more than a thousand cases of pig farm prevention and diagnosis services have been carried out in Yunlin County, and the diagnosis and consultation service window of plant doctors has been established in 13 villages and towns. The needs of crop diagnosis and treatment are referred by the peasant association, and continue to plan to expand the counseling network. Physicians in Yunlin are responsible for building a bridge between academics and industry: hold lectures on key livestock and crop topics in various townships, promote academic research results and convey correct new agricultural knowledge and concepts to front line production areas; and the current situation facing the industry will be returned to the school research team for problem resolution. Such an interlocking cycle mode continues to promote the accurate medication of animal husbandry and agricultural production, and the environment is friendly, so that people can eat healthilyy and eat at ease.
