Hsiuping University of Science and Technology, implements " University Social Responsibility Project (Hereinafter referred to as "USR project") Cooperating with local revitalization, mainly to solve the three major problems facing agriculture: a seasonal shortage of agricultural labor, imbalance of agricultural production and sales, and lack of added value. Using agricultural experience and paid farming experience to solve the problem of seasonal agricultural labor shortage, Solve the problem of agricultural production and sales imbalance through the integration of virtual and real marketing systems, and increase the value of agricultural output through methods such as in-depth agricultural tours, smart agriculture introduction, and agricultural product development.
The outflow of youth from agricultural communities has caused an aging population, Taiwan government started to promote local revitalization in 2019, This project also assists local proposals through the USR project, proposes a local revitalization plan for the construction of the sixth-level agricultural industry in Waipu District, Taichung City, and cooperates with local youth and agricultural production cooperatives for local revitalization. In the future, USR plans to combine local revitalization to create a local industry, attract young people to return to the community, and shape a good local community of life circle.
There are seasonal labor shortages in agriculture. Hsiuping University of Science and Technology leads students into farmland to assist in farming and solve the problem of short-term agricultural shortages through service learning and professional integration into service-learning mechanisms; Before farming, young farmers' food farming education teaches the knowledge of friendly agriculture, so that college students, high school vocational students, and parent-child families participating in farming will not only understand the meaning of friendly agriculture because of their assistance in farming but also have a taste of high-quality and friendly agricultural produce. The biggest problem in agriculture is the imbalance between production and sales. Farmers grow high-quality agricultural products, but because of the lack of production and marketing channels and marketing media, they can only sell them to the market at low prices. Hsiuping University of Science and Technology is to establish pick-up stations in community buildings in the metropolitan area, agricultural products exhibitions and sales offices and schools, and hold a metropolitan neighborhood market, to exhibit and sell excellent agricultural products to consumers through physical channels, and to promote friendliness through food and agricultural education Agriculture interacts with residents, and consumers can order agricultural products through computers and mobile phones through the "Wutai Dali Anxinjia" platform, and the farmers send their product directly to consumers. The in-school pick-up station is operated by students, nurturing students to assist in the marketing of agricultural products through virtual and real integration channels and social media, while students with an entrepreneurial spirit will use market exhibitions to sell creative products developed by local fruits and vegetables to accumulate future entrepreneurship experience and practical ability.
Pan Bo-Yuan, a freshman in our school, was a catering and Chinese food student in high school. He liked to practice but couldn't sit quietly in class. By encouraging Bo-Yuan to practice bread, Bo-Yuan finally found a place for his soul. Although he is fresh, he has already made bread and meals with local ingredients in the street market and started his own business. every time the experience of setting up a stall always stimulates Bo-Yuan creativity. Not only that, his mother encourages Bo-yuan to donate part of his turnover to disadvantaged groups. With a grateful heart, the young Bo-yuan knows the future direction and his own value.
Primary agricultural production is not easy to store because agricultural products are easily affected by market price fluctuations, and the quality and yield of agricultural products are extremely vulnerable to extreme weather. In addition, agricultural products lack branding and innovation, so the output value is not easy to increase. Through courses, topics and research papers, students from the Department of Electrical Engineering of our school developed a smart agricultural system to assist in agricultural greenhouse monitoring, improvement of the chicken farm environment, adjustment of hydroponic vegetable production conditions, and smart clam breeding. This not only saves agricultural manpower but also improves agriculture through IoT technology. Production quality and yield increase in agricultural output value. And through visual design students to assist farmers in packaging design, brand building and film promotion, and provide farmers to use, but also enhance farmers' autonomy and agricultural product sales prices, increase farmers' income.
Assisting in solving agricultural problems through students' majors not only increases students' practical knowledge but also cultivates students' future employment and entrepreneurial strength. Kuo Chao-Chia, a student of the Department of Electrical Engineering of our school, participated in the project and founded a company after graduation to help solve industrial problems with IoT technology. Such as: Assisting the Taichung City Government Health Bureau to construct a smoke-free environment reminder for supermarkets to effectively solve the smoking problem in supermarkets. Chao-Chia also provides resources to assist students in the practical study of special topics, and integrates with the industry to shorten the learning gap.
Hsiuping through the USR project assists in the construction of residential building communities and marketing of high-quality agricultural products into residential areas, creating a good living circle from the production area to the dining table. we also cooperated with local youth for local revitalization, and proposed the construction of an agricultural local revitalization plan, hoping to combine the USR project with local revitalization to create a local industry, attract young people to return to the community, and create a good local community. At the same time, combined with the suspended barrier-free greenhouse system jointly developed by the school, it adds value to the care of the elderly and solves the long-term care problem of the aging population in agricultural communities.
