"The university that takes care of your health (Taiwanese)" is coming! The National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences is the only university in Taiwan that specializes in nursing and health care. Through the two strategies of "local connection" and "talent cultivation", the three major targets, namely, community elders, young students and long-term care workers, will play the influence of university social responsibility in the four major fields including school, community, social welfare organizations and long-term care industry.
This year, the program of "Linking Regional Resources, Upgrading the Department of Long-term Care" is led by Vice President WU, SHU-FANG, with four teachers and two commissioners from different professional backgrounds. Through daily administrative support that is seamlessly integrated with monthly management examination meetings, they aim to present long-term care in a variety of new looks.
Accompany you to run another kilometer
"My leg has been injured. I usually feel numb and can't run." Grandma Cho, who is suffering from chronic diseases, has long given up on sports. Because her son secretly made registration for her, there is an opportunity for change. SUN, JO-HSIN, a teacher from the Department of Long-term Care, earnestly promotes the "cross-generational common running ". From July 29 to September 30, a 10-week progressive course teaches correct warm-up exercises, recuperation exercises, muscle strength training and running postures. Grandma Cho not only finished the two-kilometer field race in the first place, but also became the most active soul figure in the group to encourage everyone to keep on exercising.
"Thanks to my son for registration for me. It's really rare to be able to run with young people." For young students, running with the elderly is also a new experience, "Unexpectedly, people can still run at the age of 70. I also hope to invite the elders in my family to exercise together." Only when the students and the elders truly meet in the road run can they open the door of mutual companionship and mutual benefit.
Accompany you to make another wish
Companionship makes long-term care humane and warm; companionship skills are the accumulation of experience and practice. Under the cooperation and guidance of the Wanhua Elderly Service Center in Taipei City, students were given the opportunity to serve with the "cross-generational companion". After the interaction and companionship skills training for students conducted by LI, YANG-TZU, a teacher of the Department of Long-Term Care, students walked into the community to accompany the elderly living alone and help them realize their wish.
Grandpa Chen, who was widowed and living alone, lost his eyesight due to aging after retirement. Even though social workers visit regularly, his life is not the same. He has never visited his favorite botanical garden since then. Accompanied by the two students, Grandpa Chen opened his heart and chatted about his long past. The students also seized the opportunity and carefully designed a trip to the botanical garden.
Grandpa Chen wore the bright hat given by his wife for the first time after being widowed, and came with a good gentleman outfit. Although he can't appreciate things with eyes, the memories that rush to his heart cannot be erased. Grandpa Chen met with the students again at the results presentation on June 22. Watching their warm and cheerful conversation, we believe that this time of company has become an unforgettable memory for him.
Support you, professionalism is never absent
On July 29th, the Old Five Old Foundation team came to the university's s Aging Precision Healthcare Training Center for a visit, hoping to bring more professional training resources to the organization.
The CEO of You, Li-Li is determined to be the unit partner. Only by providing a proper education and training system and career advancement planning can we avoid brain drain and help frontline caregivers grow and advance.
Seeing the challenges faced by long-term care partners in the community, YEH, HSIN-TING, a teacher from the Department of Gerontological Health Care, plans the career development process, corresponding abilities and qualification thresholds of caregivers at different levels through monthly cooperation meetings. In addition to training planning, Ms. Ye cultivates long-term care professionals in local institutions as a lecturer in basic training for home supervisors. In spite of the weekends and holidays, workers still come to learn and communicate energetically. It is hoped that the injection of school resources will make the community long-term care partners more labor-saving and effective.
Support you, not alone in starting a business
On July 31, the third year with HUOLIN Home Care, the "Healthcare Café" was unveiled next to a quaint three-level historic site in Yingge, opening a new long-term care conversation with the community through innovative service models. This cafe not only provides meals, but also provides services such as health care, life companionship, reablement care and home care. "This is my second home!" The elderly smiled innocently like children.
"Help the elderly in the community find the most suitable local lifestyle!" In the beginning, two nurses, CHING YU and XIAOMI, insisted on this idea and came to the National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences to seek help in starting a business, which is still vivid in their memory. Entrepreneurship has not happened overnight. The director of the Department of Gerontological Health Care and Incubation Center, JUIN-MING TSAI led the advisory group after countless discussions to achieve today's innovation. Whether the next step is to exert the influence of the community or increase the capacity of long-term care personnel, we are ready to be the best backing for each long-term care partner.
The real gain is that while benefiting the community, it is also deeply blessed by the community. These warm and beautiful achievements and stories have brought us full touch and inspiration!
We will continue to grow and work together to create a broader future for long-term care. More stories will continue to be written...
